McFadyens Contractors carried out this project as Principal Contractor to Forestry Commission Scotland.
The project involved the construction of a 44T Steel Beam and composite Deck Road Bridge of 18.6m clear span over a 12m ravine. Works consisted of excavations to create foundations, erection of fully designed formwork systems, pouring of reinforced concrete abutments and assembly, launching of 20m steel beams and cross bracings, deck formwork system, deck reinforcement and handrail installation.
Due to the complexity of the construction and site conditions, McFadyens Contractors worked closely with the Client and were instrumental in the identification of construction systems and detailing which were fundamental in the success of the Project. The Client commended McFadyens on the workmanship, contract management and attitude to Health and Safety and as a result the project was delivered on time, on budget and with zero accidents.
