McFadyens Contractors worked extensively alongside BAM Nuttall Ltd as the main subcontractor on the site for all civil engineering works on this prominent project. Works commenced in the second quarter of 2012 and were completed in April 2013 taking approximately 12 months to complete in accordance with the project plan.
The project involved reclamation of a section of the inner harbour to 800sqm in area within Campbeltown’s Conservation Area. Works included careful down taking and rebuilding of existing Historic Scotland Listed sandstone block harbour wall, formation of reinforced concrete crest wall, road and footway realignment to reclamation area.
We supplied and imported the infill material to the reclamation area, installed the precast concrete block revetment mattress system, shuttered and formed the precast concrete steps complete with integral side walls.
We also constructed 200m of 4.0m wide replacement footway and conservation guardrail along the harbour wall complete with new reinforced concrete edge beam. The edge beam was faced with reclaimed sandstone supplied and cut to suit the design and integrate alongside the existing. We supplied and laid 750sqm of the Rocbinda decorative resin bonded aggregate system, as an accredited contractor.
Project Co-ordination was paramount throughout the construction ensuring the works were delivered successfully and without incident.
